How to Choose A Monitor

Monitor
  • Size
    • The bigger the better, but remember you have to fit it on your desk. Also larger monitors cost more, its not necessarily good to get a basement bargain 19" over a higher quality 17".
  • Max Resolution
    • The higher the better.
  • Refresh Rates
    • If you are buying a 21" monitor the refresh rate at 1600x1200 should be at least 75hz. For 19" monitor 1280x1024 should be at least 75hz and for a 17" at 1024x768 75hz. The higher the refresh rate the less you see the screen "blink" on and off. This can be very bad on the eyes and can cause headaches at 60hz this is quite noticeable.
  • Point Size
    • The lower the better. .26mm or less for 19". The point size has to do with how large the pixels on the screen are.
  • Brand
    • Makers of good monitors include KDS, Sony, Viewsonic and more.
